Parents:

This letter is to inform you of our planned Open House and Parent Teacher conferences scheduled for Monday, February 7, 2022. The building will be open from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. If you as a parent, would like a private conference, please make an appointment with your teacher for February 7th, sometime between 1:00 and 5:00 PM. If you are unable to attend prior to 5:00 PM please let your teacher know and arrangements can be made for a private conference. If you would like to attend the meal provided by Wildcat Roundup and have your student lead you through the open house that will run from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Also please take note, if a teacher would like a conference, they will make an appointment with you. We ask that you make every effort to attend either in the conference format or the less formal open house and support the school along with the Wildcat Roundup program.  Hope to see everyone there.

On another note, as we get closer to the Fort Kearney Conference basketball and wrestling tournaments beginning January 29 through February 5, be advised that the basketball tourney will be held at home sites for the first round and Minden on February 3,4, & 5 due to a HVAC issue at the Viaero Center. The wrestling tourney will be held in Amherst on February 3.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Craig Lorenz as our new PreK-12 principal beginning in August of 2022. Craig and his family come to us from Rock County Schools where he served as the PreK-12 principal. We look forward to working with Craig and welcoming his family to the community of Axtell.

To conclude, our school district has done a tremendous job in fighting Covid and the effects on our district. Our student absenteeism has remained very low throughout the school year with the disinfecting and everyday procedures we have in place. However, recently we have seen a rise in the number of other winter time illnesses with both staff and students. You may choose to have your student wear a mask during school hours at any time but there is no requirement currently in place.

Yours in Education,

Rob Gregory

Superintendent
