Community of Axtell
I am writing this letter in an effort to keep everyone up-to-date on the new building addition into formally extend an apology for the miscommunication on social media last week.
Currently, we are working through the design process for the new building addition. Subcontractor bids are expected to be released this month and I am hoping that the construction will begin in October. The design/build process has presented some challenges along the way and it definitely has been a learning process for me. We are currently working with architects to finalize the materials that will be used in the building, such as floor, design, color scheme, lighting, materials, etc. As this process concludes, we are hoping that it will come together and be a school building addition we can all be proud of. I would like to take this time to formally thank everyone that assisted the school board and myself with this project in many different capacities.
Last week, Axtell Community School sent a social media post out concerning student behavior expectations at the football games this fall. The truth is, the expectations of our students in this venue have not changed over the years. We do like those students playing games to locate to the northwest corner inside the fence, where fewer people watch the game. This is where I usually locate myself, either in the north bleachers or on the ground level where I can assist in keeping an eye on them. The miscommunication occurred in the form of the practice field, and for that, I do apologize for creating the issue and I hope this corrects any confusion that I have created. Once again, my sincere apologies.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please call me or stop in my office. I'm sure we can resolve this. Friendly reminder that we do have parent/teacher conferences scheduled for Monday, September 30.
Sincerely,
Rob Gregory, Superintendent
